Horses Healing Hearts
with Jesus
Equine Therapy
Oroville, California

Mission Statement
To help individuals find healing and hope through the bond with horses and the teaching of Jesus.
What is Equine Therapy?
Equine Therapy is a form of experiential therapy that utilizes the horse to promote emotional, physical and cognitive well-being. Horses provide a non-judgmental and accepting space to explore emotions including anxiety, depression and trauma. Healing comes through the interactions and relationship built with the horse and therapist. Equine therapy is not horseback riding, all sessions will be feet on the ground only.
What is Christian EquineTherapy?
A therapeutic approach that combines horsemanship with the Christian faith and biblical truths to promote emotional, spiritual and psychological healing.

And So Much More…
Emotions are deeply rooted in our physiology and often expressed through bodily sensations. By learning to identify and welcome these sensations, clients can develop greater emotional tolerance and a better ability to manage their internal states. The horse’s presence and movements can have a calming and regulating effect on the nervous system, thus promoting natural emotional regulation.
My Approach
As a licensed therapist and devoted equine owner, my greatest priority is creating a positive, healing experience while ensuring everyone's safety at all times.
What to Expect in a Session
Each session take place in a peaceful country setting. So yes, there will be dirt, and probably a little manure too! It's all part of the authentic ranch experience . Dress accordingly!
During your time here, you’ll learn to build a meaningful connection with both the horse and the therapist. Activities may include observing, grooming, leading, walking, and participating in various ground exercises. You might also guide your horse through an obstacle course, learn the basics of horse care, and develop awareness through listening—to both the horse and your own emotions.
Each session may also include moments for journaling and prayer, helping you reflect, grow, and connect more deeply with the experience.
Meet the Team
About Me..
Hi, I’m Cathleen Ouimet, LCSW, AAT-I. I’ve been a clinician for over 20 years, walking alongside both adults and children as they navigate life’s challenges. Over the years, God placed it on my heart to bring together my love for animals, my passion for helping people, and my faith in Jesus to create a space where true healing can happen.
In our sessions, we’ll invite Jesus into the process as we work through your feelings, rebuild your sense of self-worth, and find peace from past wounds. My equine partners play a special role in this journey—offering a steady, nonjudgmental presence that mirrors God’s grace and gentleness.
Together, through prayer, reflection, and time with the horses, we’ll create space for you to heal, grow, and experience the hope and freedom that come from Christ-centered restoration.

In addition to my horses, I also work with goats and sheep, who beautifully demonstrate family dynamics through the way they interact with one another. They’re gentle and often a great fit for those who may feel a bit intimidated by the size or energy of a horse.
